"We're proud to sponsor the Crosstown Classic again this year," said Allstate Sugar Bowl CEO Paul Hoolahan. "The Sugar Bowl has been part of the city's sports culture for over 75 years and we're excited to partner with the unique history and tradition of the Xavier-Dillard rivalry that has been such an important part of the New Orleans sports landscape for over 50 years now."
This will be the second Xavier-Dillard doubleheader sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl. The schools met in the New Orleans Arena last year with Xavier sweeping the doubleheader.
"We at Xavier thank the Allstate Sugar Bowl organization for their continued investment and support of Xavier University," Xavier President Dr. Norman C. Francis said. "The gift is truly appreciated and will continue to assist the university in its historic mission of educating deserving students."
Because of limited seating in the Xavier gymnasium, there will be a free and live closed-circuit broadcast of the doubleheader at Xavier's University Center in the third-floor ballroom. Only those with a valid Xavier identification card may attend the viewing at the UC.
