FUN. and Huey Lewis and the News to headline main stage performances leading up to the Allstate® Sugar Bowl®

The Allstate® Fan Fest is back and bigger than ever, returning to the Crescent City for the seventh year with a variety of fun and family-friendly activities and concert performances for college football fans and New Orleans residents leading up to the 79th Allstate® Sugar Bowl®.

Nestled in the heart of the French Quarter in Jackson Square, this year's Allstate Fan Fest will feature live concerts, school pep rallies and football-themed activities to get fans excited for one of college football's most iconic bowl games.

The Grammy-nominated band FUN. will headline the festivities with a free performance on Jan.1, while legendary American rock 'n roll band Huey Lewis and the News will take to the stage the day prior on New Year's Eve. The FUN. concert will be live-streamed for fans across the country on Allstate's Facebook page, and fans are invited to live tweet the performance by using #AllstateFanFest.

Fans of the participating Allstate® Sugar Bowl® teams will have a chance to show their school spirit during high energy pep rallies featuring marching bands, mascots and cheerleaders for the Florida Gators and Louisville Cardinals the day before the game.

Also taking place at the Allstate® Fan Fest is the exciting finale of the "Allstate 60 Seconds of Mayhem Sweepstakes." Two finalists will compete to see who can successfully convert the most 25-yard field goal attempts into the Allstate "Good Hands®" net in 60 seconds.  The winner will receive the ultimate grand prize, including a new truck, boat, motorcycle, RV and VIP trip to meet college football television analyst Kirk Herbstreit at the Discover BCS National ChampionshipTM in Miami.

This year, fans visiting the Allstate® Fan Fest can also register for a chance to win an Allstate® Sugar Bowl® fan pack which includes an autographed helmet and jersey from their respective Allstate® Sugar Bowl® teams.  In addition, the Allstate Combine will give aspiring student athletes the chance to participate in football-related activities and drills leading up to the big game.

Members of the 2012 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®, an award honoring a select group of college football players who stand out for their commitment to the community, will be recognized during a special introduction on the Allstate® Fan Fest main stage and at halftime of the Allstate® Sugar Bowl®.

While in New Orleans, Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® members will surprise local children with a special football clinic.  The football clinic marks the fifth consecutive year that members of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®  have traveled to New Orleans to make a positive impact on the community leading up to the Allstate® Sugar Bowl®.

Monday, Dec. 31

  • Louisville Cardinals Pep Rally – 3:15 p.m.
  • "Allstate 60 Seconds of Mayhem" Kick Competition – 4:00 p.m.
  • Florida Gators Pep Rally – 4:45 p.m.
  • Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® Introduction – 6:00 p.m.
  • FUN. Concert – 6:30 p.m.

The Allstate Fan Fest is free to the public between the hours of 12 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31, and Tuesday, Jan. 1.  Fan Fest is located at Jackson Square in the Jax Brewery parking lot off Decatur Street (418 North Peters Street).

Allstate will celebrate its seventh year as the title sponsor of the Allstate® Sugar Bowl® held in New Orleans at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Jan. 2, 2013. The game will be broadcast on ESPN at 7:30 p.m. CST.
