Allstate Sugar Bowl Hosts 85 Volleyball Teams for AAU Regional

NEW ORLEANS (May 28, 2018) – The Allstate Sugar Bowl sponsored the 2018 Girls Volleyball AAU Super Regionals hosted by Louisiana Volleyball on May 26-27 at Loyola University and the Hilton Rivercenter. The event featured 85 teams and over 800 young athletes from seven different states (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas) playing multiple matches over the two-day event. It is the ninth year that the Sugar Bowl has sponsored the event.

14-Year Olds (16 teams): Nola Lauren def. Memphis Metro
15-Year Olds (16 teams): Asics Louisiana def. Cajunland Ken
16-Year Olds (19 teams): WD Nation def. Nola Dana
17/18 Club (13 teams): Arkansas Storm def. Ignite Adidas
In addition to sponsoring the New Orleans AAU Super Regionals in recent years, the Sugar Bowl also sponsors an annual collegiate volleyball classic hosted by Tulane University and it sponsored the JVA World Challenge in 2010.
The Allstate Sugar Bowl has established itself as one of the premier college football bowl games, having hosted 28 national champions, 93 Hall of Fame players, 49 Hall of Fame coaches and 18 Heisman Trophy winners in its 84-year history. The 85th Allstate Sugar Bowl Football Classic, featuring top teams from the Big 12 and the SEC, will be played on January 1, 2019. In addition to football, the Sugar Bowl Committee annually invests over $1.6 million into the community through the hosting and sponsorship of sporting events, awards and clinics. Through these efforts, the organization supports and honors nearly 100,000 student-athletes each year, while injecting over $2.5 billion into the local economy in the last decade.
