Crescent City Fall Classic 5K Road Race
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2014
8:30 AM - 5K RACE
Held the second Saturday in November, this race has multiple audiences. Serious runners can use this event as a qualifier to earn a prime starting position in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Crescent City Classic 10k. This is the ONLY opportunity to run a qualifying time at the 5k distance!
In addition, the CC FALL Classic encourages participation by area students. Ranging from elementary school through college, young runners from throughout the region come for the camaraderie and competition. With age specific prizes for everyone starting at age eight, and cash grants for those schools with the greatest number of participants, this is always a spirited event and a great introduction to running events for young runners.
Completing the 2014 Fall Classic in the following times will automatically qualify you for a seeded position in the 2014 CCC10k:
"A" Group.... 17:30 min (35:00 10k)
"B" Group.... 20:00 min (40:00 10k)
"C" Group.... 22:00 min (45:00 10k)
All runners will receive a Bib Number on Race Day. Each bib number will have B-tag timing chips attached to the back - DO NOT REMOVE THESE. Please pick up your bib number from the Registration Tents inside the Practice Track, beginning at 7:00am on Race Day morning. Please wear your bib number on the front of your shirt. Safety Pins will also be provided.
Runners can pay $3 extra to have bib numbers mailed to them early - deadline to register for Mail Back Option is Monday, Oct. 20th at Midnight.
You can also pick up your bib number at Early Number-Pick on Thursday, Nov. 6th from 12-6pm & Friday, Nov. 7th from 2-7pm at the Peristyle, 42 Dreyfous Dr, New Orleans, LA 70124. Lost bib numbers will NOT be replaced. You must re-register.
All registered runners will receive an official Fall Classic Race T-shirt as part of their entry fee & can pick up their t-shirt after the race at the Post-Race Party on the Practice Track or during Early Number Pick-up.
The course begins on Golf Dr., continues onto Friedrichs Ave, passing by the new Festival Grounds & Christian Brothers School before bearing a right onto Wisner Blvd. Runners pass by the front of the park on Wisner to City Park Ave., where they continue, re-entering the park at Anseman Ave. Runners take a right onto Dreyfous, passing by the Great Lawn, City Putt & Morning Call, to Lelong Dr., where runners circle the New Orleans Museum of Art & continue down beautiful Roosevelt Mall. The course wraps around Palm Dr. & finishes on the Practice Track.
There is plenty of free parking inside of City Park, on Victory Ave., near Storyland, by Christian Brothers School or near the Dog Park. The Parking lot on Marconi will be open until 11am. No Parking inside Tad Gormley Stadium, on the Neutral Grounds or anywhere along the course (this includes: Roosevelt Mall & Lelong).
The Michelob Ultra Post-Race Party
The Michelob Ultra Post-Race party will be held at the Practice Track in City Park after the race & will feature live music, free food & free Michelob Ultra beer! Friends and family of participants are welcome to attend for free. Bring the kids to our "Family Fun Zone", which will have obstacle courses, inflatables & more!
Once again, team competition is back for the Crescent City Fall Classic! Teams will be split into six categories: Male, Female, Mixed, Male Masters, Female Masters, and Mixed Masters. A case of beer and bragging rights for winning teams! Rules & How to regsiter below:
- ALL team members MUST be registered for the race before registering on a team.
- Must register 4 people per team.
- Top 3 runners will be scored.
- Runners can only sign up for 1 team.
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Mixed teams must consist of 2 males & 2 females.
- ALL 4 team members must be 40� yrs to qualify for Masters category
- NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION - you must regsiter teams by Friday, Nov. 7th to compete.
Awards will be presented on stage, during the Post-race Party at 10:00am.
Awards will be given to the top 3 male and female finishers, as well as the 1st place male and female Masters (40� yrs), Grandmasters (50�), Seniors (60�) and Legends (70�) finishers. Awards will also be given to the 1st place male and female finishers in each of the following age groups: 8-9,10-11,12-13, 14-15, 16-17, 18-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & over.
NOTE: The overall winners are not eligible for the age group awards.
We will also present awards to our Grant Program winners & will announce the winning teams of our Team Competition on stage.
