Manning Match Up Week 10 - November 7

Thursday, November 5, 2009

Six games this week feature Manning Award Watch Listers facing each other, but the selection for this week's Manning Match-Up is No. 16 Ohio State at No. 11 Penn State (2:30 p.m. CT, ABC). The Buckeyes' Terrelle Pryor and the Nittany Lions' Daryll Clark will share the spotlight in Happy Valley this Saturday, but Pryor, a Pennsylvania high school product who chose Ohio State over Penn State, is expecting a less-than-warm welcome.

Both teams are 4-1 in the Big Ten, and a game back of unbeaten Iowa, which defeated Penn State earlier in the year and still must play Ohio State. OSU leads the series 10-6 since PSU joined the Big 10.

Pryor, a sophomore, is in his second year as the Buckeyes' starter and was voted the Big Ten Preseason Offensive Player of the Year for 2009. For the season, he has completed 113-of-207 passes for 1,543 yards with 13 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He leads the team in rushing with 110 carries for 554 yards and six scores.

Clark, a senior, leads the Big 10 in pass efficiency and ranks sixth nationally in TD passes with 18, having thrown only one interception in his last five games. For the season, he has completed 166-of-263 passes for 2,158 yards, 18 TDs and seven interceptions. He has added five rushing scores.

A win for Ohio State and Pryor would make next weekend's battle with Iowa one of the biggest games of the year. A loss in this game does not completely eliminate either team from the Big 10 race or BCS consideration, but would make the road from here on out extremely difficult.

Gophers lose top receiver, but Weber steps up for huge game in 42-34 upset of Michigan State.
