Sugar Bowl Hosts 625 Volleyball Players for AAU Regional
Tuesday, May 31, 2011
The Allstate Sugar Bowl sponsored the 2011 Girls Volleyball AAU Super Regionals hosted by Louisiana Volleyball over Memorial Day weekend at Loyola University and the Hilton River Center. The event featured 63 teams and approximately 625 young athletes from seven different states (Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Arkansas, Kentucky, Texas, and Louisiana) playing multiple matches over the two-day event. It was the event's second year being sponsored by the Sugar Bowl Committee.
In addition to sponsoring the New Orleans AAU Super Regionals in recent years, the Sugar Bowl also sponsors an annual collegiate volleyball classic hosted by Tulane University and it sponsored the JVA World Challenge over Easter Weekend this year.
The mission of the Allstate Sugar Bowl is to sponsor and promote amateur sporting events which will foster revenue and spark economic growth in the city of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana. Through all of its year-round slate of events, the organization has generated over $2 billion of economic impact for the city and the state in the last decade alone.
