AUBURN ASCENDS TO NO. 1 IN BCS STANDINGS

SEC Has Six Teams in Rankings

Auburn University, after an impressive win over sixth-ranked and undefeated LSU on Saturday, has jumped from No. 4 to No. 1 in the latest BCS Standings. Auburn will hope to avoid the upset bug that has victimized top teams of late - Oklahoma was No. 1 in last week's initial BCS Standings, but lost to Missouri. The previous two weeks before that saw AP No. 1's Alabama and Ohio State both get upset. The top two teams in the final BCS standings play for the BCS National Championship in Glendale this year.

The University of Oregon, fresh off a convincing blowout of UCLA, remains at No. 2, despite being No. 1 in both the AP and Coaches' Polls. Boise State and TCU are No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, while Michigan State moved up two spots to No. 5. Missouri, after its upset of Oklahoma, has jumped to No. 6. Alabama is the highest-ranked one-loss team at No. 7, just ahead of undefeated Utah. Oklahoma and Wisconsin round out the top 10.

The Southeastern Conference has six ranked teams total, the Big 12 has five and the Big Ten has four. Moving into the rankings this week are Miami (FL), Nevada and Baylor - the Bears are ranked for the first time in the history of the BCS.
