San Diego State and Southern Illinois shared the title for the weather-shortened 10th annual Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Volleyball Classic, hosted by the Tulane University women's team, this past weekend at Fogelman Arena. The tournament, which also featured William & Mary, was originally scheduled for six matches with each team playing each of the other three schools. However, due to Tropical Storm Lee, the event was abbreviated.
San Diego State and Southern Illinois finished with 1-1 records and did not play each other. Both schools won five sets and lost three. Tulane took third place after defeating San Diego State, 3-2, on Friday, but falling in straight sets on Saturday to Southern Illinois.
