Volleyball Concludes AAU Super Regional Tournament

The Allstate Sugar Bowl sponsored the AAU Super Regional Volleyball Championships on Memorial Day weekend at the Hilton Riverside Health Club and the Loyola University Recreation Center. Sixty teams and approximately 600 athletes competed from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, Tennessee and Texas.

The winners from each qualified division (girls' age groups from 12-18) received free entry into the AAU National Championships at the Disney Sports Complex in Orlando.

The AAU Super Regional marks the third volleyball event sponsored by the Sugar Bowl this academic year. The Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Classic was contested by four collegiate varsity teams at Tulane in September. Easter weekend featured the Allstate Sugar Bowl JVA World Volleyball Challenge with over 1,600 girls' club players competing.
